SALISBURY TRIP

Hi students

Here you have some pictures of the trip to Salisbury!!!

This year we have organised several cultural trips to other nearby cities and sites.

We visited the cathedral on the first day, as last year, and we also saw Magna Carta. It is legal document dated from 1215. There are only 3 copies left and one is Salisbury's cathedral.

The next day we went to Winchester and we went sightseeing the town. Winchester's cathedral is also famous for its Bible and a Jane Austen is buried inside the cathedral, too. We went into the Great Hall, where King Arthur's Round Table is hang on the wall.

On Wednesday, our students visited Stonehenge, a very mysterious place. It is still unknown the meaning of the position of the stones. Some researchers have argued that it is an astrological monument where druid celebrated sacrifices and sacred ceremonies for winter and summer solstice.
We also visited Old Sarum ruins, which are next to Salisbury. Can you hear the legend?

On Thursday, we did a trip to London and we could see some famous landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, St James' s, Park Picadilly Circus, Regent Street and Oxford Street.

On Friday,  our students received a certificate of attendance and Kaplan Academy organised a leaving party.

First Year ESO Translation activity

Hi students!!

Our students of First  Year ESO have been practising translation into English. At the same time,
they have been using ICT since they have used laptops to share a Google Docs and and they have
stored their documents in Google Drive. It was something they have learnt to do for the first time!!

They have been translating Aragonese legends for the Etwinning Project in pairs with the help of Google Translator. They had to check words and meanings with the use of an online dictionary.such as www.wordreference.com.

Other countries have done the same activity in Twinspace. One legend was chosen for our country and it was the lengend of St George and the Dragon.

You can read some legends here or at the end of the blog where I have created an ebook with the best written ones!!

WRITING 2nd year ESO.

                                 A PHOTO DESCRIPTION.

Students of 2nd year ESO must improve their writing skills . The best way is writing a lot. This time they had to write a composition about a photo of them having fun with their friends and family. Everybody participated and we read three compositions during the English lesson.

Describing a photo you  must give an answer to the following :

                                                                       WHERE...
                                                                       WHO...
                                                                       WHAT IS HAPPENING...
                                                                       OTHER INFORMATION...

                                          Your photographs were fantastic !!!

                       WELL DONE JOB !!!
